DROP-IN WEDNESDAYS!

Individuals who require a bit more flexibility in days attended are invited to integrate into the Wednesday component of the Success Through Structure Program and the full-time Rise and Thrive Program.

Drop-in Wednesday Offers:

No long-term commitment. Individuals interested should email the Program Director by 5 pm on the Monday of the same week – to secure his/her spot in the Wednesday drop-in program. Limited spots are available.

Things You Miss Out on with Only Attending the Drop-in Wednesdays:

Those who attend drop-in Wednesdays only – will be participating and learning via a social, fun, and naturalistic setting. Although activities offered on Wednesdays are guided by the ABLLS-R and AFLS skill assessments - individual assessments, individual goal setting, and progress reports are not offered with this option. If this is what you are seeking, please see check out our Success Through Structure and the Rise and Thrive programs.

• Social Skills Development
• Communication Skills (verbal, PECS, Proloquo2go)
• Following rules
• Using manners when in public settings, the importance of good hygiene
• Calendar - days, months, year, seasons
• Turn Taking
• Arts and Crafts
• Cooking/baking and following instructions/recipes
• Music
• Community Outings
• Exercise 
• Learning emotions and self-regulation strategies using "The Zones of Regulation"

Support is available for prospective students that cannot fully use the washroom independently. Washroom support may vary during community outings - depending on the level of assistance required and the location the group is scheduled to visit that day.

The staff to student ratio at White Pines Academy is 1:3 or 1:4 – depending on the functioning level, as well as the level of care and supervision that the current students being served require. WPA also has peer mentors, volunteers from the community, and students from various colleges acquiring experience for their student placements – assisting throughout the year. 

Drop-in Wednesdays welcomes individuals of all functioning levels.  1:1 support can be provided at an extra cost - if required. 

Prospective students must not exhibit aggressive or highly disruptive behaviours.
